A few words
About Me
I have lived in many places, but now I'm home.
I was born in Nashville, TN and raised along the Gulf Coast. I moved around a lot, bouncing between Louisiana and Mississippi as a kid. My father was in construction, so we went where the job was. I got married and moved to Virginia with my first husband, who was in the Navy. After that, I lived in Massachusetts for little while, and finally made my way to central California. I started my career there while trying to be a single mom to two daughters. After 5 years working in San Jose, I got transferred to Southern California where I met my second husband. We’ve been married now for 20 years. I had a career in the hard drive industry, working my way from Technician to Senior Staff Engineer over the course of about 20 years. I spent 28 years at that company. During that time I met hundreds of people and traveled all over the country and to many parts of the world.
We lived in Orange County in a good neighborhood. Things were going well. We had low crime and conservative, like minded neighbors and friends. Well, most of them were. You know when you are working and raising kids, and the issues aren’t right in your face, it’s hard to notice them. But we did start noticing around 2016 when Trump was running for election and especially after he was elected. The liberals went crazy, including people we thought were friends. I had people in my own family that basically quit the family because of Trump. The mere mention that you liked him sent people over the edge. I don’t believe that was Trumps fault in any way, but the liberals that were not able to contain their hatred. The last straw was in 2018, when our district rep was miraculously beaten by a Democrat. It happened in the middle of the night, with a sudden jump in votes, much like the swing states in 2020. We decided we had to get out.
We had always thought about moving to Idaho, mostly because it seemed the politics and the freedom and liberty mindedness were very similar to our own. When we decided to get out of California, I was still working. I had to beg the company to lay me off so I could get my severance package. That took over a year. Meanwhile, we did go on a real estate tour of Idaho and fell in love with this area. We bought our property in Moyie Springs in the summer of 2019. Then, in March of 2020, I got the call (because we were on lockdown and working from home). They were finally going to give me my package. We were ecstatic and started packing and figuring out how to leave as fast as possible. We were moved in by Memorial Day and haven’t looked back.
I’ll say that I have never felt more at home than I do here. After all the places I’ve lived, and traveled to over my life, I feel that the community here is my own. I thank God that I was fortunate enough to get to live here. I want to get involved and I want to protect and defend this community. I want to keep it just the way it is for as long as possible.
